Do you remember who you really are?
Taking an auto ethnographic approach, Jackie has infused her collection of paintings with her personal quest for self reflection and discovery through inner work and healing methods. For example, by recognising darker parts of herself and shadow elements addressed in Jungian theory, she examines the “hidden, repressed, for the most part inferior and guilt-laden personality,” entangled in her psyche. Exploring her past wounds and behaviours associated with periods of self hatred, pity, shame, guilt and fear. Taking on this psychological and spiritual task can clear the vessel, moving oneself into self acceptance, clarity, love and heightened intuitive knowings. Looking at the human soul, spirit, internal world, psyche, ego, shadow as universal elements, extending to all human forms. Seeing the work engage in the dimension that ties us together, regardless of external differences, drawing on source energy. Learning about the self and our own perception of reality will provide the greatest wisdom, informing our relationships and ability to connect with one another and the world around us. In this body of work, we see these vivid visuals developed with acrylic and oil paint. The motif of stars, and pointed forms enacted as bodies of light, to bring about an essence of healing. A practice of humility and forgiveness is now a necessary tool to move forward.
The idea of remembering who we really are, draws on esoteric wisdoms and the metaphysical, suggesting we come to earth as a part of soul evolution to fulfil our soul purposes. Part of that process is undergoing a veil of forgetfulness. The Kabbalah is a part of Jewish tradition that deals with the essence of God and “within the soul of every individual is a hidden part of God that is waiting to be revealed.” We are in a magical realm that goes beyond our understanding. The more we expand our conscious awareness, we connect to the vastness of the universe, our true nature, witnessing mystical experiences drawing us closer to each other.
